A: Yes, we're glad to. "Cucusoft Mpeg/Mov/RMVB/DivX/AVI to DVD/VCD/SVCD Converter Pro" is a Windows-based, all-in-one program to encode video formats such as MPEG, MOV, RM/RMVB, DirX, Xvid, AVI, to DVD/VCD/SVCD. The latest version of the program also contains "DVD Author Express" and "DVD/VCD/SVCD Burner Engine", which makes it become an all-in-one DVD/VCD/SVCD creator. According to Cucusoft, this program is also optimized for 64-bit CPU including Intel EM64T and AMD64, and is the first DVD/VCD/SVCE Creator in the world which utilize the 64-bit CPU.

Q: I burn a VCD, but my DVD player can't play it. Is there anything wrong with the program?
A: Not all DVD players can play VCDs. Some DVD players that can play commercially stamped "silver" VCD's cannot play VCD's on CD-R. You need to try both CD-R and CD-RW media. I have found that even different brands of CD-RW get different results.

Q: When I encode a video, why is the resulting mpeg file size larger than that of the original video?
A: The resulting mpeg will always be 176400 bytes x # of seconds in source video. This is a result of the VCD standard

Q: Can you tell me something about "Codec"?
A: A codec is a device or program which is capable of doing the job "Encoding" and "Decoding" on a digital data stream or signal, in other word, codec is the "Compressor/Decompressor". Every compressed video file uses a codec to decompress the video frames so that the player can perform the task of playback. There are a large number of codecs out there. You need to download some codecs to play some video files since windows media player doesn't come with all codecs. Some of the codecs are not compatible with DirectX, such as those used by "Cucusoft Mpeg/Mov/RMVB/DivX/AVI to DVD/VCD/SVCD Converter Pro". By downloading the latest version of the codec, it should work for the "Cucusoft Mpeg/Mov/RMVB/DivX/AVI to DVD/VCD/SVCD Converter Pro". If it doesn't help at all, please contact support@cucusoft.com for further assistance.

Q: OK, you've talked about something about the codec, but where should I get it?
A: You may go to http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Codec_Pack_All_in_1.htm , to download the all-in-one codec package.
Back to Question |

Q: Why is the "Cucusoft Mpeg/Mov/RMVB/DivX/AVI to DVD/VCD/SVCD Converter Pro" so slow?
A: The recording speed may vary from 1 frame/sec to 15 frames/sec, depending upon the system. So, it will take one and a half hours to eighteen hours to encode a one-hour video to MPEG. MPEG encoding is highly CPU-intensive. Some codecs are also slower than others.
Back to Question |
Q: I use the Cinepak codec to encode an AVI file, the output MPEG file is very noisy/blocky/sticky/glitchy/stuttering, how can I eliminate it?
A: The encoded DVD/VCD/SVCD, or MPEG file can only be as good as the original video file, in most cases, it is worse than the original video quality. The original video has to be high quality, little compressed or no compressed at all, to create a OK output file quality. The encoder is picky on the original video noise, if your original has background video noise, then the output file will mostly likely have noise, too.
Back to Question |
Q: Why can't the screen capture sequence, or the computer generated animation create a good result? the output MPEG is blurred.
A: MPEG is supposed to capture the real world motion picture, such as the people's movement, action, etc, for the computer generated motion pictures, it can't perform the capture task very well.
Back to Question |
Q: The playback of the output MPEG file freezes, or video and audio are out of sync, what happen to the encoding?
A: By turning off the screen saver, it'll probably solve your problem. The password protected resume will reset DVD-ROM's status and cause this problem. Meanwhile, try uninstalling and then restalling DirectX 9.0c on your system. And the DivX version 5.05 and 5.2.1 have similar bugs, try using the latest version of DivX codec might probably solve your problem.

Q: "Cucusoft Mpeg/Mov/RMVB/DivX/AVI to DVD/VCD/SVCD Converter Pro" can not encode the video captured by MJPEG Capture Card, is there a work around?
A: This is caused by the hardware-based codec used by some MJPEG Capture Cards. This hardware-based codec is not compatible with the DirectShow component of DirectX. And some software MJPEG codecs are not compatible with DirectX either. Since the "Cucusoft Mpeg/Mov/RMVB/DivX/AVI to DVD/VCD/SVCD Converter Pro" requires DirectShow compoent, you have to make sure the original video files have the support of DirectShow, otherwise, you should contact the card vendor and request a DirectShow-compatible of the video codec. For any further questions, please contact support@cucusoft.com

Q: Help! I got this error message: "Error attempting to read audio from Type 1 DV .avi file Re-render video with video editor and try again!", when I was encoding the videos created from my DV camcorder.
A: You will have this problem when you try to encode the Type 1 DV avi files. To solve this problem, you need to choose the Type 2 DV option in your video-editing software when creating video from your Digital Camcorder. The workaround is to set your camcorder to 32KHz, 12 bit audio, which will solve most of the users' similar problem. Meanwhile, check your Camcorder's manual, try rendering your DV file to Type 2, or use 32KHz audio. And Pinnacle DV500 owners should upgrade to DirectX 9.0c or above, and download the DV500 driver version 4.0 or above from the Pinnacle's web site.

Q: Adaptec Easy VCD Creator states that the MPEG file created by "AVI to VCD/DVD" is not "Whitebook" compliant, what's wrong with the encoding process?
A: You need to check whether the "MCI MPEG Video Driver:" in your VCD Creator contains the DirectShow or ActiveMovie driver, if not, that's the reason you have this problem. To locate where the "MCI MPEG Video Driver:" is, launch your VCD Creator, click menu "Help", scroll down to "About". Easy VCD Creator uses the default MCI MPEG Driver to detect the the source MPEG files' characteristics. Many DVD software players replace the DirectShow MCI Driver with their own, which might not identify the MPEG file characteristic required by Easy VCD Creator. You may also ask the software vendor for a patch of this problem.
